The acerbic Defender is coming back for a third round. Deadline is reporting that Marvel’s Jessica Jones has officially been renewed for a third season by Netflix.
This comes about a month after the second season debuted on the streaming service. While not as critically well-received as the show’s stellar first season, the second shot seems to have been successful enough to set up glasses for another go.
Season 2 found Jessica dealing with the notoriety of her encounter and takedown of Kilgrave at the end of the first season. A mystery about people being given powers unfolded into secrets about Jessica’s own past and the origins of her abilities. The season ended with a number of story threads left open that could easily be explored in Season 3.
No indication is given of when we could see this next chapter. The debuts of season 3 of Marvel’s Dardevil and season 2 of Marvel’s Luke Cage still await in 2018. Second seasons of Marvel’s Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Punisher are in or wrapping up production and are likely to debut next year on Netflix. Jessica Jones Season 3 could come later in 2019 or in the following year.
