Marvel’s The Punisher adds some heavyweight talent with Shohreh Aghdashloo joining the cast in a recurring role.
Entertainment Weekly shares that Aghdashloo will play the part of Farah Madani, the mother of series regular Amber Rose Revah’s DHS Agent Dinah Madani. The pair played mother and daughter previously in the BBC-HBO Saddam Hussein miniseries, House of Saddam, produced by The Punisher showrunner Steve Lightfoot.
The Iranian-born actress was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the 2003 drama House of Sand and Fog. She won a Primetime Emmy for her role in House of Saddam. She’s also no stranger to genre work. She had a memorable turn in Season 4 of FOX’s 24, logged 5 episodes on the recently departed Grimm, and current stars in the SyFy series The Expanse. Comics fans will no doubt recognize her as a Doctor Kavita Rao from X-Men: The Last Stand.
No word on the number of episodes she will be appearing in during the first season of the Frank Castle series. It sounds, though, that she might continue with the series if if moves beyond this first 13 episode run.
Marvel’s The Punisher is set to debut on Netflix some time in November.
