Vincent D’Onofrio’s celebrated turn as Wilson Fisk is the focus of the latest spot for Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3. As the darkness fills Matt Murdock’s life, Fisk is back in white in the spot released by Netflix today.
In the comics, Fisk’s nom de guerre, the Kingpin, is known for his trademark white suit look.
When the character was introduced in the first season, a conscious effort was made to surround Fisk in white but dress him in dark suits and clothes to provide the contrast and commentary on his struggle. He purchased a piece of art from his soon-to-be wife that featured a stark white landscape he would lose himself in as he contemplated his past and his future.
By the end of the season, Fisk found himself staring at a prison wall that recalled the painting, donned ironically enough in an all-white jumper. That switched to that lovely shade of orange you can only seem to find in one environment for season 2, as both Murdock and Frank Castle, the Punisher, found themselves running aground of the mountain of a man in prison.
Fisk’s out now. With a brand new start comes a brand new look. As Matt retreats to his black threads while darkness threatens to consume him, Fisk looks like a beacon. A lovely contrast. Fisk is expected to make Matt’s life a living hell this season.
