In addition to today’s welcome news that Marvel’s Daredevil is bringing back Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, Marvel TV also announced a new showrunner taking over the reins of the series for Season 3.
Erik Oleson will executive produce the Man without Fear’s third slate, along with original show creator Drew Goddard. Oleson will lead the writer’s room, breaking the story and plot for the season and leading the writing duties.
He’s no stranger to comic book genre television. He served as a co-executive producer and writer on The CW’s Arrow in Season 3. He also recently brought his talents to Amazon Prime’s acclaimed series The Man in the High Castle as exec producer and head writer during its first and second seasons.
Oleson is the fourth showrunner in the series history. Drew Goddard originally developed the show and served as head writer prior to the first season. He had to depart the series because of scheduling conflicts with other projects. Goddard remains as an executive producer.
Steven DeKnight, who will next be featured as writer and director on the upcoming feature film Pacific Rim: Uprising, took over and shepherded the series through its highly-praised debut season.
Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez would take control of the second season, successfully introducing Frank Castle/The Punisher and Elektra to the fold. The pair would also share duties running The Defenders miniseries.
Production on the new season of Daredevil is expected to begin later this year. The series is planned to debut on Netflix at sometime in 2018.
