• The Eastmans plan to shoot Jessica in retaliation for Audrey Eastman’s mother being killed by collateral damage during the Battle of New York seen in Marvel’s The Avengers.
• Just as in Daredevil, the denizens of Hell’s Kitchen refer to the Battle of New York as “the Incident.”
• Jessica’s references of “the big, green guy” and “the flag-waver” are about the Hulk and Captain America.
• Jessica elaborates on the accident she mentioned to Luke Cage in “AKA It’s Called Whiskey” that gave her her abilities. The car accident also took the lives of her parents. In the comics, Jessica was on a road trip with her family when their car got into an accident with a truck driving radioactive material, similar to Matt Murdock’s origin. Her parents and brother were killed and Jessica was left in a coma for months before coming to and discovering her powers. In the show, Jessica was taken in and adopted by Trish Walker’s family.
